Clayton's Survival/Isolation Journey

What is this all about?

So I bet your thinking what the heck is this Survival/Isolation Journey thing? Well I'll tell you, ever since I was a child I've always wanted to go on a short term survival/isolation trip. My idea of a short term survival/isolation trip is to go out in the middle of nowhere, with limited supplys, isolated from other people, and live off the land for a while. I would probably take a swiss army knive, a hatchet, my bible, a camera, a pencil + notebook, and an emergency kit including first aid materials, flint, fishing material, two-way radio, cell phone, and energy food. I want to do this now while I am young because if I wait, I probably won't be able to do it because of a job, a family or both.

One Problem

There is just one small problem, I need to work as much as possible to have enough money to go to college. So I brainstormed and thought, if I can get sponsors, I can do something I've always dreamed about doing and get help going to college as well. It will also help others be an important part of my journey.

Here is a quote from the book "Wild at Heart" By John Eldridge, that inspired me to go on this crazy journey:

"If you had permission to do what you really want to do, what would you do? Don't ask how, that will cut your desire off at the knees. How is never the right question, how is a faithless question. It means unless I can see my way clearly I won't believe it, won't venture forth. When the angel told Zechariah that his ancient wife would bear him a son named John, Zechariah asked how and was struck dumb for it. How is God's department. He is asking you what. What is written on your heart? What makes you come alive? If you could do what you've always wanted to do, what would it be? You see, a man's calling is written on his true heart, and he discovers it when he enters the frontier of his deep desires. To paraphrase Bailie, don't ask yourself what the world needs, ask yourself what makes you come alive because what the world needs are men who have come alive."

When and Where?

I have decided to go on this trip for 7 days, during Spring Break, from March 13-19. I think I am going to do this in the White Mountain Wild Area in Bald Eagle State Forest in PA. It is a 3,581 acre tract of undisturbed forest, and is bordered by a large creek called Penns Creek to the north. I should be able to find an ample supply of wild edible plants, animals, and fresh water there.

Sponsorship Benefits:

I hope by embarking on this journey, I can help encourage others to go and do what they've always wanted to do no matter how crazy and how out of reach it may seem

UPDATE:

Well the trip was a partial success, many things didn't go as planned, but I got by. I didn't find as much food as I had hoped, and I ended up eating some things I never ever thought I would ever eat. But all things considered it was a great trip, and I learned lots of cool things, and found some answers I had been searching for. To get access to my in depth day to day journal, and picture album (the pictures are great by the way) please make a donation of any amount here . I just know you want to know about the disgusting things I ate, and even see pictures of them. So once you send me a donation, send me an email, and I'll tell you where my secret Sponsors only website is located with my journal and pics. Thanks for helping me with college.

I would like to offer my biggest thanks to everyone who helped me to go on this adventure, and especially those that are listed below:
