3 Unity College Students Clean Up Sea Trash on Schoodic Point
October 10, 2005
Unity College students, Karen Symes, Brittany Jenkins, and Clayton Kern,
who were at Schoodic for a field trip, noticed large amounts of sea trash (styrofoam, buoys, and bottles) littering the Schoodic shoreline.
They stood up and took it upon themselves to do something about it. They spent approx.
3 hours of their own time walking along the approx. 3/4 mile stretch from one end of the Sundew trail to the other collecting all the sea trash they could find.
They ended up gathering 4 large bags of trash, 3 bags of recyclables, an old fiberglass boat, a lobster crate, and several large blocks of styrofoam.
They greatly enjoyed the opportunity to clean up a beautiful park, and got some good exercise at the same time.
