After 2 incredible summers of operating CoolClay's Fossil Expeditions, we are forced to go on a temporary hiatus for the summer of 2008, due to the owner and operator Clayton Kern getting accepted as a Marine Science Instructor at the Catalina Island Marine Institute off the coast of California. Self guided kits are still available for those interested. More info about them can be found here. We are currently planning one last FREE fossil hunting expedition get together at the Calvert Cliffs, Maryland, in late May. More details will follow. If you would like to receive more updates on the expedition get together email ME!

To whom it may concern,
I met Clayton in 2005 during an informal scientific trip out to an abandoned coal mine in eastern Pennsylvania. Not being familiar with the area, he readily agreed to serve as guide. I was also interested in doing a little extra exploration around the area and Clayton was able to recommend an excellent camp (Bald Eagle State Forest). The following day we met in Shamokin and we explored the mine and natural fauna around. His prior knowledge of the site made the trip very entertaining and informative and we quickly were able to find many unique formations and fossils - of which he identified several. Though we could only spend 1 day surveying the site, it was one of the more enjoyable and rewarding experiences I've had in quite a while. I would highly recommend his services to anyone seeking a qualified guide.
Respectfully yours, Fred Bayoff
